HERBAL IS THE NEW HEALING FOR MONSOON

By Maharaja Whiteline on 22 June, 2023 shutterstock_195085961_1000x667.jpg

The onset of rain caresses the mind and body with a serene atmosphere. A longing for comfort food, a long stroll or a drive away to cherish the pouring sky are desires that take over us every monsoon. No wonder it is the most loved weather across the country but much like the clichéd silver lining, this weather too has plenty of dark clouds hovering along it. Literally speaking the hazards of sudden temperature swings, getting drenched in an unwarned rain, eating food outside resulting in an upset stomach or getting bitten by mosquitoes are some ill effects of the rainy season, that can’t be ruled out.

We seldom have much control on the external factors causing ill health, however, the bounty of natural goodies available around us do offer an array of solutions to prevent and cure any sickness. Here are a few quick fixes that may come handy, the next time you or your loved one suffer the perils of weather change.

FLU/FEVER

Roast a handful of dill seeds (suva), some peppercorns, and 1 tsp kalonji seeds together. Boil 2 cups water and add the roasted seeds to it. Let it boil for 10 minutes before straining the mixture. Once cooled, add a pinch of cinnamon powder and drink few sips every 2 hours.

DIARRHEA

Cook 3-4 carrots in a little water, until they are soft. Put this mixture in a blender and add a bit more water to blend into a puree. Consume 1/4 th cup of this carrot mixture every hour to get cured in a day.

Our mixer grinder is the perfect way to blend the products smoothly.>

INSECT BITE SWELLING

There are a lot of ways to lessen the swelling caused by insect bite. Some of them are

  • Mix a pinch of baking soda with a skin lotion of your choice and dab it over the swollen area. Leave it and compress for sometime
  • If the sting is fresh and starts to swell, lay a slice of papaya on it for about an hour or so to help reduce the pain as well as the inflammation

HAIR FALL

Indian Gooseberry or Amla is a great source of iron and helps strengthen the hair follicles. Grate a few gooseberries and mash it to a pulp by boiling. Use the pulp and mix it with some lemon juice. Apply this mixture on the scalp and leave for 20 minutes. Wash with warm water and follow this routine twice-thrice a week.

HEADACHE

Cayenne pepper is a great way to subside the stinging pain in your head. Mix ½ glass warm water with 1/4th tsp cayenne pepper. Let it settle at the bottom and dip cotton swabs in the mixture and apply inside to the insides of each nostril. The application can result in a bit of burning sensation but will help relieve the pain immediately.
